About

I am a veterinary surgeon and worked in practice for quite some time before becoming increasingly interested in veterinary education. I was lucky in that these interests coincided with a new veterinary school setting up just up the road. Hence I am a foundation member of staff at Nottingham Vet School, and am responsible for professional skills teaching, portfolios, professionalism and have lots of other interests too.

Me and Thornton

Recently I have become involved in the Open Educational Resource “movement” (if that is the right word) and am a member of the Wikivet steering group. We are currently developing the Virtual Veterinary Hospital as part of this site, and also an image database which should be embedded in the feed on the right of this page!

Clinical interests are mostly equine related, although I teach in several other areas and worked in mixed practice predominantly.

I have a masters in clinical education and am about to finish (!) my PhD in veterinary education “Defining and teaching veterinary professionalism”. More on this in the blog no doubt.
